Vice Provost’s Student Advisory Council on Undergraduate Education
Description
The Vice Provost’s Student Advisory Council on Undergraduate Education (SACUE) provides a unique opportunity for motivated undergraduates to provide confidential advice to the Vice Provost for Undergraduate Education and other senior campus administrators on matters concerning the campus’s undergraduate academic life and student experience. SACUE members help influence decisions that directly impact the quality of undergraduate education at Cal. Detailed information is available in the charge.
Qualifications
We are seeking undergraduates to serve who:

have a deep interest in the campus academic life and a passion for improving the quality of undergraduate education at Cal;

are comfortable in actively voicing and respectfully listening to a variety of opinions in a group setting;

are able to respect the confidentiality of the Council and to offer thoughtful advice on a variety of sensitive topics.
Students must be available to attend monthly meetings on Wednesdays from 4-6 PM (in 108 California Hall) on the following dates:
Fall 2008 Semester: 9/17, 10/15, 11/19, 12/10
Spring 2009 Semester: 1/21, 2/18, 3/18, 4/22, 5/6
For 2008-09 we are recruiting representatives in the following areas:
For a one-year term:
- UGIS/Professional School Majors
For a two-year term:
- L&S Bio Sciences Majors
- Environmental Design Majors
- Engineering Majors
- At-Large Representatives (2)*
*Preference given to undeclared and lower division students.
Note: Rising juniors who are able to participate for two years are especially encouraged to apply.

The ASUC is also recruiting two at-large representatives for one- and two-year terms. Interested students who do not fall into one of the current recruitment areas identified above should contact aavp@asuc.org.
