The VPTL provides campus-wide leadership for programs that support and assess excellence in teaching and learning. Her Office's policy, planning and programmatic mission is to:
- Encourage innovation, discovery, and academic enrichment in the curriculum
- Promote and recognize achievements in teaching, mentoring, and advising
- Enhance students' academic success
- Integrate and advance the use of educational technology
- Establish pedagogical standards for the design of classrooms and other learning spaces
- Develop policy recommendations related to the teaching mission of the campus
- Partner with the Academic Senate on ensuring the quality of teaching and learning
- Oversee multi-college and campus-wide programs
- Prepare assessments and reports of educational effectiveness
