Summary Biography |

Vice Provost Christina Maslach received her
A.B. in Social Relations, magna cum laude, from
Harvard-Radcliffe College in 1967 and her Ph.D. in Social
Psychology from Stanford University in 1971. She has
been teaching on the UC Berkeley campus since 1971.
She is an internationally known expert on job burnout
syndrome, and her work has been translated into many
languages. Vice Provost Maslach has also been honored
for her teaching excellence, as a recipient of UC Berkeley's
Distinguished Teaching Award and as a Carnegie Foundation
Professor of the Year. In 1991, she chaired the Commission
on Responses to a Changing Student Body, whose final
report, dubbed "The Maslach Report" provided a blueprint
for undergraduate education for the next decade. She
assumed the newly created position of Vice Provost for
Undergraduate Education in January 2001.
